Deciding to go green is a wonderful life decision, but can be overwhelming. Broken down, it doesn't seem so overwhelming. Here are the baby-steps I'm taking.
Reusable Bags
Start easy. At the store this week, buy some reuseable grocery sacks. I wasn't sure about this step, but it turns out to be one of the best moves I've made! I have six bags and one insulated. That is enough to handle even my biggest shopping trips! I can carry more at once and have less trips from the car to the house.
Recycling
Learn about recycling in your area. In our area, they give us a tub to put items in. On trash day, we put the tub out with the trash cans. We toss cans, plastic, glass, etc. all in the same tub. Make whatever method you do easy! Don't place the recycling center out in the snow where nobody wants to go to toss items into it. Find a spot where everyone has access.
Vinegar
Buy a gallon of white distilled vinegar and 3 to 5 spray bottles. You can use this miracle disinfectant and cleaner for 100's of uses around the house. Did you know vinegar is as effective as bleach in killing germs? I use it to clean floors, carpet, glass, counters, stove top, shower, and even to freshen the air. I have replaced window cleaner, bleach, shower cleaner, all purpose cleaners, air fresheners, and more with vinegar. Use this site, VinegarTips.com to find out what you can use it for.
